Personal training for Parnell.

I don’t have a studio in Parnell. Mine is at 19 Auburn Street in Grafton — about five minutes away, with off-street parking. For most people in Parnell that’s a shorter trip door to door than driving somewhere on Parnell Road and then looking for a park.

The studio 19 Auburn Street A private floor in Grafton. Five people at most, each on their own programme.

The drive is the short part.

Parnell is the closest suburb to the studio, and the trip is short enough that it stops being a factor in whether you turn up. That matters more than it sounds. The most common reason people stop training isn’t motivation — it’s a twenty-minute round trip that quietly becomes a reason to skip a Tuesday.

The parking is the other half of it. Grafton is hospital and university territory, so it would be a fair assumption that you’d be hunting for a space and feeding a meter. You’re not — there’s off-street parking at the studio. You pull in, you train, you leave.

Who comes over from Parnell.

Parnell tends to send me professionals fitting training into a working week that doesn’t hold still. Nobody here is on a template — the two people I currently coach from Parnell are on completely different programmes, for completely different reasons.

  • A chiropractor who trains between clinic days, and who knows exactly what they’re looking at on the floor. That raises the standard of the coaching rather than lowering it — every cue has to survive an informed question.
  • A lawyer fitting two or three sessions around court and client hours, on a programme that gets rebuilt whenever the week does. Some weeks that’s three full sessions; some weeks it’s two short ones and we adjust the plan rather than pretend.
“Training with Sam has been a game changer… He doesn’t just tell you what to do; he explains why it matters, ensuring every session is purposeful and effective.”

What it costs.

Semi-private membership is $299 a month. Most people start on semi-private plus a weekly 1:1 — a three-month foundations term at $499 a month, then $599 month to month. Every option starts with a conversation and an evaluation, and the first session is free.

Also within an easy drive: Remuera and Ponsonby.

Parnell questions.

How long does it actually take from Parnell?

About five minutes by car — Parnell Road onto Park Road, or through the Domain. It’s the shortest trip of any suburb I coach people from, and there’s off-street parking when you arrive, so the door-to-door time is close to the drive time.

Is there parking, or am I feeding a meter?

Off-street parking on site. Grafton is hospital and university territory so it’s a reasonable thing to worry about, but it isn’t something you’ll have to think about here. I’ll send entry and parking details before your first session.

Can I train before work?

Early sessions are some of the most requested, and the live timetable shows what’s genuinely open this week rather than an aspirational grid. Hours are still growing — if nothing on there fits around your start time, say so when you enquire. Knowing when people actually need to train is how I decide what to open next.

Is semi-private or 1:1 right for me?

Most people start with the foundations term — a weekly 1:1 alongside semi-private floor access — for three to six months, then move to semi-private on its own once they can run their own sessions well. If you’ve trained seriously before, semi-private on its own is often the right starting point. We work it out in the first conversation, which is free.

Tell me what you’re after and how your week actually looks. The first session is free, and there’s nothing attached to it.
