Personal training for Remuera.
The studio is at 19 Auburn Street in Grafton — eight to ten minutes from most of Remuera, straight down through Newmarket. Off-street parking, a floor capped at five people, and a programme built around you rather than handed to you.

Two of the people I coach from Remuera are still at school — a golfer and a rower. If you’re a parent looking for strength work for a teenage athlete, that’s worth knowing, because coaching a fifteen-year-old is not coaching an adult with the weights turned down.
A school-aged athlete is already carrying a training load from their sport, and their season dictates everything. So the work is built around it: technique first, load managed deliberately against what their sport is asking that month, and a bias toward the things that make an athlete durable rather than the things that look impressive. In-season and off-season are genuinely different programmes, not the same one at a different intensity.
The other thing a small floor buys you here is that a teenager isn’t training in a crowd. Five people at most, one coach on the floor the whole time, and I know exactly what every one of them is doing.
Who trains here from Remuera.
Remuera is the most mixed roster I have. Two school-aged athletes and two adults in completely different situations — all on individual programmes, all on the same floor, all with me watching.
- A school-aged golfer working on rotational strength and the ability to repeat it late in a round, programmed around a competition calendar.
- A school-aged rower whose strength work moves substantially between season and off-season, because loading an in-season rower like an off-season one is how you get an injured rower.
- A beautician on her feet all day, where much of the job is building capacity that survives a full working week rather than one that only exists on a rested Saturday.
- A property manager training around a diary full of other people’s appointments, on two to three sessions a week that get moved rather than missed.
“Incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He’s flexible with scheduling, always supportive, and has an eagle eye for technique. You can tell he genuinely cares about you getting stronger.”
What it costs.
Semi-private membership is $299 a month. Most people start on semi-private plus a weekly 1:1 — a three-month foundations term at $499 a month, then $599 month to month. Every option starts with a conversation and an evaluation, and the first session is free.
Remuera questions.
Do you coach school-aged athletes?
Yes — two of my Remuera clients are still at school, a golfer and a rower. Programmes are built around their sport’s season and competition calendar, with technique and long-term durability ahead of chasing numbers. Parents are welcome to talk it through with me first; the initial conversation is free and there’s no obligation attached to it.
How long does it take from Remuera?
Eight to ten minutes for most of Remuera — Remuera Road through Newmarket, then Park Road. There’s off-street parking at the studio, so you’re not adding a parking hunt to the end of the drive.
Is there parking?
Off-street parking on site. Grafton is hospital and university territory so it’s a fair thing to ask about, but it isn’t something you’ll have to deal with here. I’ll send entry and parking details before your first session.
Can training work around a school sport season?
It has to, and it’s most of the skill in coaching a school-aged athlete. In-season the strength work supports what the sport is already demanding and stays well clear of interfering with it. Off-season is when we actually build. The programme changes when the season does — that’s the point of having a coach rather than a plan.
